Stream: PAPA – “If You’re My Girl, Then I’m Your Man”

I first noticed Papa when I heard their jam “I Am The Lion King.” It just possessed such a cool groove and guitar. And I’m not going to pretend that the song name didn’t peak my interest. But, it was definitely when I saw them live at last year’s Outside Lands Festival in an intimate tent that solidified my fandom of LA duo Darren Weiss (formerly in Dawes) and Daniel Presant (formerly in Girls). Fast forward a year later, the band has signed with Lomo Vista Records and  have released a limited edition “Put Me To Work”/”If You’re My Girl, Then I’m Your Man” 7″ today.

“If You’re My Girl, Then I’m Your Man,” is a cheeky indie dream that feels like it could simultaneously soundtrack Pretty In Pink and Garden State. It’s retro but modern. It’s sweet but sharp. And it’s available to stream below.

Stay tuned for their debut album out this fall.
