Listen, I was brought up in the boringest of boring religions, musically, and mass wise. There are very few hymns I remember from my entire upbringing, save for my favorite, “Wade in the Water,” JAM. Anyways, I definitely never heard “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” in my Roman Catholic church but THANK GOD (hehe) for Sister Act 2. Lauryn Hill and Tanya Blount blew me away with their rendition when I was originally exposed to the beautiful number in my youth.
Active Child’s Pat Grossi does his impeccable thing to the classic. His control, let me tell you…it is something else. If you are looking for a new addition to your sleepytime or get emotional and cry in your car because you have seasonal affective disorder playlist, this cover works perfectly. And for you freaks who haven’t seen Sister Act 2, enjoy the version that taught me how music is supposed to sound, below.
